We are often asked when is the best time of year to sell a property. The honest answer is that although there is some seasonal variation, particularly with country properties, we agree sales for our vendors in every single month of the year.
Country properties with lovely gardens or land tend to show at their best in the spring and early summer, especially after coming out of a long, wet and dark winter. The reality though is that buyers need and want to secure their onward move regardless of the weather or season.
While the late autumn and winter can bring fewer viewings overall, we find that the quality of these viewings is often better, with serious buyers still on the hunt for their new home. Experienced house buyers will tell you that if you get a good feeling from a property on a miserable winter's day, you will absolutely love it when the better weather returns. I would argue that it's almost as nice coming to view a property on a chilly day when a fire or wood burner brings a metaphorical hug and a cosy atmosphere as it is to view on a warm summer's day.
Serious buyers don’t put their search on hold just because of the weather and in 25 years of selling houses I can’t remember anyone not buying a house they loved because it was raining! So, if you are thinking of selling, you don’t need to wait until the spring. Despite the current economic/political headwinds, there are many keen buyers on our database who are able to move immediately, and your property could be just what they are looking for.
Why not give us a call if you are thinking of selling and we’ll be more than happy to try and help, come rain or shine.
