What has wine got to do with estate agency?
Whether your house has a full-on cellar, complete with spiral staircase, or just a small wine rack in the kitchen – surely every house needs to have a few bottles in stock! But where is the value in your bottle?
For a regular bottle of wine, the production cost of fixed overheads is circa £6.56 (£2.77 Duty, £1.35 VAT, £0.54 Packaging, £0.21 Logistics, £1.69 Retailer) So what about the cost of the actual wine?! For an £8 bottle you’re getting about £1.44 of wine, and for a £12 bottle, £5.44*. After a certain point, everything you are getting in return is quality - better value and overall experience.
Estate agency bears some similarities. Agents who work on high volume and low cost offer you the £4.99 option. You may get your house sold, but there will be little enjoyment, no quality photos, no service levels, and a frustrating experience. Will you end up with a hangover?
Therefore, when looking to sell your home, choose wisely. Grant & Co never aspire to be the cheapest agent but we do aim to offer the best value in terms of delivering the greatest opportunity to sell your home. We aim to make a difference with a proactive, hands on service, quality marketing, an interested (and interesting!) small team who are invested in the process from start to finish.
If you’re thinking of selling this year, think carefully about what kind of experience you want. Maybe open a bottle of Chablis while you ponder…
Then do give us a call, we would love to speak to you.
