Situation

This beautiful area of natural woodland sits within a short walk to the top of May Hill, a renowned local landmark. May Hill consists of a wide expanse of open grassland, bracken and gorse with boggy areas and pools, that is going through a rewilding programme in many areas. The hill is capped by a clump of pine trees planted in 1887 to commemorate the golden jubilee of Queen Victoria. May Hill Common covers 30 hectares of common land acquired by the National Trust in 1988. There are beautiful, panoramic views from the top of the hill encompassing the Malvern Hills, the Cotswold Hills, the Severn Vale, the Forest of Dean, Herefordshire and the Black Mountains beyond.

Summary

The woodland for sale comprises a lovely mix of tree species including Ash, Alder, Birch, Cherry, Holly, Field Maple, Oak, Sycamore, Hazel, Hawthorn and Sweet Chestnut. It also has an abundance of Snowdrops, Daffodils, Bluebells, Wild garlic, mushrooms and other fungi to provide interest throughout the seasons. The Woodland has a lovely clearing which is where the shepherds hut is situated and the hut benefits from a small wood stove, and PV powered lighting and 12v sockets. Perfect for providing shelter during the day or, for the occasional overnight stay. There is also as small stone built storage building on site but this would benefit from some TLC if it were to be used. The current owners have found evidence of Dormice on site with a specially designated area left undisturbed for them and at the northern end of the site. This area also contains one of the famous dip-up wells of May Hill. The well in this woodland is known as the Holy Well. A small brook also runs along one of the boundaries.
